Cracked glass, loose handle, sash that will not close — most uPVC window problems have surprisingly simple fixes. A quick triage guide.
Glass crack: tape over the crack with packaging tape on both sides to keep glass in place, then call your dealer for a replacement glazing unit (DGU). Do not attempt DIY replacement — modern double-glazed units are sealed and need to be re-glazed by a fitter.
Loose handle: lift the small cap at the base, rotate 90°, tighten the two screws, and rotate back. 30-second fix.
Sash will not close: check that the sash is hanging correctly — usually it has slipped on its hinges. Most modern hardware allows ±2 mm vertical adjustment via an Allen screw at the bottom hinge.
