A complete maintenance routine — gaskets, hardware, drainage and seasonal checks — to keep uPVC windows performing for decades.
Modern uPVC windows are remarkably maintenance-free, but a 15-minute seasonal routine doubles their service life. Start by wiping the gaskets with a soft cloth and a drop of silicone oil twice a year — once in spring, once in autumn.
Hardware should be lubricated with a non-acidic grease at least annually. Check that drainage holes at the bottom of the frame are clear; blocked drains are the single most common cause of "leaking" windows.
For the glass, avoid harsh solvents — a microfibre cloth and water with a few drops of dish soap is plenty. Inspect the perimeter sealant from the outside every two years and re-seal any cracked sections to keep the building envelope tight.
